My DV Life: Weathering the Storm of Junior Year
I think a metaphor that describes my junior year as a whole would be a storm shelter during a tornado, because while tornadoes are extremely devastating, if you are prepared and are able to enter your storm shelter beforehand, you can survive pretty much unscathed. I think that this describes my junior year perfectly because junior year has definitely is a lot like a storm in many ways. The work load is far more hectic than in past years, and due dates all landing on the same day can seem a bit chaotic sometimes. However, because I have had the experience of seeing my sister and he friends struggle through their junior year at DaVinci, I made the realization that I could not approach junior year the same way I had previous years. From the first day of school, I started doing work the day it was assigned in order to prevent procrastinating and getting behind on work and practicing time management by cutting down my time on Facebook and other distractions. Because of these preventive measures, I feel as though I have been able to succeed and make it through the year relatively unscathed. Looking forward, I hope to continue practicing good habits both next year and in college.
